Lecture: Internet of Things – novelty and comfort vs. security

Aleksander Zdyb will present unique security requirements of Internet of Things, automotive and other embedded devices.

Almost all devices used today are smart and clever. To be so, they need more and more of our private data and constant network access. They also create their own networks: Internet of Things is a popular and modern idea about connecting everything. Newer and newer concepts of visionaries, inventors and producers are no longer just fancy gadgets, but are becoming part of our work, household and life. The advantages of connecting a smartphone to a car, a tablet to an oven or TV to a bulb are easily visible and appreciated, but do we fully understand the consequences of such comfort?

Aleksander Zdyb will present unique security requirements of Internet of Things, automotive and other embedded devices. Audience will have a chance to learn about previously unknown hazards that users of IoT are exposed to. Aleksander will show what to focus on during designing, deploying and using IoT setups. He will also explain how Internet of Things influences our everyday life, privacy and security both on local and global scale. He will focus not only on technical aspects, but also on ethical and legal ones.
