This talk introduces CouchDB: The high-level concepts, coolest features, pros, and cons, and everything else you need to know to decide for yourself if it is worth a look (ok, I’m cheating, you will want to look at CouchDB after my talk :)

CouchDB is a fault-tolerant, distributed, schema-free, document-based NoSQL database with a powerful query engine powered by MapReduce. CouchDB scales up to multi-data-centre clusters as well as down to your mobile phone. Peer-to-peer replication lets you keep your data in sync in all places.

CouchDB is also home to CouchApps, lightweight HTML5 applications that live inside CouchDB and are served to run in the browser; no middleware needed.
